Kilmac Civil was contracted to construct a bridge spanning across 6 platforms which is part of the Transport Access Program (TAP) for NSW Government to improve accessibility at Redfern Station
The TAP program aims to provide greater accessibility for all customers and improved connections between stations and their final destination across Sydney.
Kilmac’s scope of works involved installation of hoardings on platforms, earthworks, temporary works and FRP packages. Excavation of lift shafts and pile caps which included the installation of shoring systems and temporary works which were carried out during possession hours.
The FRP package consisted of installation of scaffolding around OHW structures working under Level 5, installation of pile caps, columns, headstocks and abutments all being completed during possession hours.
Tight access and schedules, live trains, live pedestrians were challenges that Kilmac had to overcome to meet program deadlines.
